BS Elementary Education and Geography
Welcome to Mrs. Brown's ELA and SS Fifth Grade Classroom!
My name is Lyndsay Brown and I am originally from Portsmouth, Rhode Island. Portsmouth is a very little town, completely different from Florence. I lived there for most of my life, having lived for about a year in Charleston, SC when I was younger. I graduated from Keene State College, in Keene, New Hampshire with a Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education and Geography. After college, I moved back home to RI and I substitute taught for 2 years in Tiverton,RI. When the time came, I moved to South Carolina 13 years ago. I love to teach and could not imagine doing anything else. This will be my thirteenth year teaching, having taught 9 years in Marion County at Marion Intermediate School. I am so excited to be teaching your child in the fifth grade here at Greenwood Elementary for the 6th year.
I am looking forward to getting to know each and every student in my class and their parents too. It is very important to me that I build a strong relationship with your child and with you, as well. What I teach in the classroom is not just in preparation for exit testing but also to help them prepare for the real world. Our goal, as a school, is to build your child into a college ready or career ready citizen! I greatly encourage communication like phone calls, emails, and visits to the classroom. I am positive that this year will be a great year and your child will leave the 5th grade fully prepared for the middle school next year. I have set high expectations for your child and for myself. I will do everything that I possibly can to see that we all succeed and grow as learners. I absolutely love what I do and love to see the excitement on my students faces when they come in for the day and their eagerness to learn. I believe that every child has the potential to grow and that every child's dreams can come true with a little bit of hard work!
