Title I is the largest federally funded education program that provides resources to school districts meeting the eligibility requirements. Title I funds help improve educational opportunities for our students. Title I expects schools to improve student achievement. Schools are to offer workshops to parents and increase parental involvement in the schools. Wallace Gregg Elementary School offers various workshops throughout the year.
This year our Title I funds were also used for a Computer Lab teacher, two part-time Focus teachers, instructional assistants, parent workshops and parent involvement opportunities, staff development, instructional supplies for academic areas, laptops, printers, LCD projectors, headphones, etc. Plans for using the funds are written during the spring for the following school year. Committee members including the administrators, teachers, other staff members, parents, and community members create the plan.
The Title I Compact outlines how the school staff, parents, and students share the responsibilities for improved academic achievement. It is signed by the principal, teacher, parent, and student.
